EmcArts seeks a Communications Manager who will be charged with implementing a communications strategy about the practice of innovation and adaptive change in the arts field and beyond, with a special emphasis on EmcArts program participants and other partners.

For the last 10 years, EmcArts has been working alongside arts and cultural organizations as they take on their most complex challenges. Through our rigorously designed and facilitated workshops, coaching, and intensive labs, we create the space and conditions for organizations to test innovative strategies and build cultures that embrace change.

Moving forward, EmcArts will continue its work with cultural organizations, and will also broaden our lens to include adaptive leadership training for individual arts leaders and community-based innovation labs that bring artists, artistic practice, and cultural organizations to the table with other sectors to solve larger social challenges.

The Manager will be charged with implementing EmcArts’ communications strategy, which includes thought leadership on our blog ArtsFwd.org and beyond, as well as a research agenda. The Manager will also be charged with facilitating a learning community among our program participants, and sharing learning from our program participants with broader stakeholders.

The Manager’s success will not be measured by the number of Twitter followers, mailing list subscribers, or press mentions for EmcArts. Instead, Manager is charged with helping incorporate innovation and adaptive change strategies into the ongoing operating practices of individuals, organizations, and communities. Success will be defined in terms of the Manager’s ability to build networks, facilitate learning, and make connections.

Successful candidates will have a compelling and accessible communication style, both in writing and in person.

The position reports directly to EmcArts’ Director of Activating Innovation and will work closely with EmcArts’ President and Managing Director and all of EmcArts’ staff. Occasional travel required. This position has been budgeted to pay between $60,000 and $65,000 per year with a generous benefits package.

EmcArts is an energetic firm that offers an informal, enjoyable and hard-working office environment, based on effective teamwork. Our offices are in Harlem, New York. Learn more about EmcArts at www.EmcArts.org and www.ArtsFwd.org.

Applications must be saved applicants full name in the document title. EmcArts will begin reviewing resumes after the close of business on Friday, February 27th and will continue reviewing them until the position is filled.

EmcArts is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status.
