Each organization rallied community members from around the world to vote daily for their proposed projects, and by the close of the voting period on May 31, there were 78,147 votes cast in total! Unfortunately, not all of the 14 Semi-Finalists can move on to the next round.

The 7 Challenge Finalists

Without further ado, the Finalists in the Business Unusual National Challenge are:

Please join us in welcoming these 7 organizations as they move forward to the crowdsourcing phase, where they will connect with big thinkers, leaders in the field, and the larger ArtsFwd community to expand their thinking around their respective adaptive challenges.

Why are there 7 Finalists?

We decided to offer 2 Finalist spots in addition to the top 5 who received the most votes, selected by criteria that took into account both the quantitative voting data as well as qualitative data. presented in the form of a statement from those organizations about how they would make strategic use of the crowdsourcing phase. Read more about this in our earlier update.

What happens next and how can I stay involved with the Challenge?

The next phase will begin on Wednesday, June 19, here on ArtsFwd.org. Read more about the details of the crowdsourcing phase here.

If you’re in New York City on June 24, 2013, join us for an in-person Creative Conversation event, in which we’ll use one of the Finalists’ adaptive challenges as a jumping off point to try lateral thinking exercises and equip participants with strategies for generating outside-the-box ideas. RSVP and learn more here.
