Congratulations to the Portland Art Museum for winning the popular vote in our “Business Unusual” innovation story contest!

When our poll closed on December 21, we were impressed by the sheer numbers of participating voters: over 28,000 votes were cast by readers championing their favorite innovation story.  We are hopeful that these stories will spur further dialogue in the arts and culture sector about the power of change through initiatives that depart from previous organizational practices.

Portland Art Museum’s innovative Object Stories project was victorious in the end, and we are looking forward to profiling their work in our Innovation Stories collection as an audio postcard.

We applaud each of our contest runners-up for their efforts in engaging their communities by sharing their organizational innovation successes through the ArtsFwd community: Arts & Science Council of Charlotte-Mecklenburg (6979 votes); Columbus Museum of Art (8270 votes); Cornerstone Theater Company (577 votes); Intersection for the Arts (783 votes).
